As the quarterfinals of the Miami Open get underway today, the tournament’s “youth movement” is on full display. With plenty of veteran stars falling early, we are left with a mix of interesting players and match-ups.
Here is your preview for today’s two quarterfinal matches Martin Landaluce vs. Jiri Lehecka and Tommy Paul vs. Arthur Fils with our best betting predictions.
Martin Landaluce vs. Jiri Lehecka
Time: Scheduled for 1:00 PM ET (Stadium Court)
The story of the tournament is undoubtedly Martin Landaluce. The 20-year-old Spaniard, a former US Open Junior champion and Rafa Nadal Academy graduate, entered as a qualifier and has stunned the draw. To reach the final eight, he knocked out Sebastian Korda, Karen Khachanov, and Luciano Darderi, quite a tournament for a player who had only two ATP-level wins before this week.
He faces Jiri Lehecka, the 24-year-old Czech who is quietly putting together a career-best season. Lehecka booked his spot by ousting world No. 6 Taylor Fritz in a physical three-set battle.
- Head-to-Head: First meeting.
- The Matchup: Landaluce plays with incredible maturity and court coverage, but Lehecka’s experience and “first-strike” tennis are formidable. Lehecka hit 10 aces against Fritz and won 75% of his first-serve points; he will look to bully the young Spaniard and end points quickly.
- Prediction: While Landaluce has been impressive, he didn’t have much rest and I think the run stops here. Lehecka’s experience in Masters 1000 quarterfinals should give him the edge and his top level is lately really high. Lehecka in straight sets.
Tommy Paul vs. Arthur Fils
Time: Scheduled for 7:00 PM ET (Grandstand)
This is probably a good match to watch between two great movers on tour. Tommy Paul is the last remaining American man in the draw. He has been clinical this week, most recently dismissing Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-1, 6-3. Paul is looking to regain his Top 15 ranking after an injury-plagued 2025.
Arthur Fils is playing perhaps the best tennis of his young career. The 21-year-old Frenchman absolutely blitzed Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-0, 6-1) in the third round and survived a tough three-setter against Valentin Vacherot yesterday. His forehand is arguably one of the biggest weapons left in the tournament.
- Head-to-Head: Paul leads 1–0. He won their only previous encounter in 2023 in a tight three-set match.
- The Matchup: Paul’s game is built on transition and variety, while Fils relies on raw aggression and good defensive speed. Paul will try to use his backhand slice and net rushes to keep Fils from finding a rhythm on his forehand.
- Prediction: This should be a high-energy battle. Paul has the home support and the tactical variety but Fils look very strong defensively and I’m not sure Paul has the right weapons to win this. Fils in three sets.
