Player Form

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (World No. 18) is riding a career-high ranking after a very strong US hard-court swing, reaching the Washington final (lost Alex de Minaur) and Toronto fourth round, where he retired against Andrey Rublev.

Joao Fonseca (World No. 52) is making his Cincinnati main-draw debut after a well-fought 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Bu Yunchaokete in the first round, firing 13 aces and 45 winners. The 18-year-old had a strong start to the season but is still showing some inconsistencies, something you can expect at his age.

This is their first meeting, with no prior match between them on the tour.

Davidovich Fokina vs Fonseca, Betting Odds and Predictions

  • Moneyline: Davidovich Fokina -152 (1.66) | Fonseca +120 (2.20)
  • Game Spread: Davidovich Fokina -2.5 (-110/1.91) | Fonseca +2.5 (-125/1.80)
  • Total Games: Over 22.5 (-130/1.77) | Under 22.5 (+100/1.98)

Davidovich Fokina’s career-high form at the moment and 65% win rate give him the edge, as seen clearly at the bookmakers as well. After being so close to winning in Washington, he had to retire in Canada but now with a weeks rest he seem to back fully. A tough match to predict but on the Cincy hard court conditions we expect the Spaniard to come out as winner eventually.

Prediction: Davidovich Fokina wins in three sets.

Best Bet: Over 22.5 total games (-130/1.77).
