The Rocket Bag Review

Written by: Jonas Eriksson | May 21, 2024

You might not have heard of “The Rocket” when it comes to tennis bags. What is it and is it any good? Here is our Rocket Bag Review.

The Rocket is made by a company called Tennis C Williams and can be bought through their official website. In short, it is an excellent tennis bag with good quality and loads of pockets, but the 395 USD price tag can be hefty for most people. We have managed to arrange a generous discount code of 30% if you use TENNISNERD30 at checkout. But let’s first go through this Rocket Bag review.

The Rocket takes a page out of that standing Nike bag from, perhaps, ten years ago. Geau Sport did an excellent version of that one called Axiom and you can check out the Geau Axiom racquet bag review here. There are also other up-and-coming brands making quality bags, like ADV with their backpack and Jetpack Pro. Many tennis players are tired of rocking up to the court with a relatively cheaply made bag full of logos and are looking for options. I am quite curious about the Hildebrand tennis bags myself as they look really nice (not sure of the functionality, though).

I am keen to hear from you in the comments, how important are looks vs functionality?

Rocket Bag features and specifications

I have tried countless bags in my days as a gear tester, but I don’t think any of them has as many features as the Rocket. They call it the “Ultimate Tennis Bag” and I can see what they were aiming for. Customers seem please with 9 five star reviews at the time of writing.

Let’s look at some of the features and specifics.

The Rocket is made from 1680D Ballistic Nylon Color coded YKK self-mending zippers and “advanced lining materials”.

Dimensions (L x H x W): 30” x 13” x 10”

It weighs 5 lbs or 2.5 kg

It can keep 3 racquets in an insulated pocket and 3-5 in the main compartment.

It comes with a 3-year warranty.

Features

  • Thermal-lined racquet pocket
  • Patent pending Rocket Pocket for phone wallet and keys
  • Book opening main compartment so nothing gets lost
  • Hide-able backpack straps and removable shoulder strap
  • Ventilated wet pocket with anti-microbial lining
  • Easy to access neoprene water bottle pocket
  • User-friendly icons that help you find stuff
  • Color-coded zippers
  • Thermal lined pocket for beverages and food storage
  • Two utility pockets, one large, one small

Is it worth the money?

This is a difficult question to answer. I have used the Rocket Bag for several weeks and put a lot of strain on my tennis bags. Due to my job as a gear tester, I have about 6-7 ones full of racquets and I have had countless different ones over the years.

Although I still cannot quite get over the fact that it looks like a large cooler bag at times, the functionality has won me over. I crave space and pockets and usually bring a bunch of racquets to the court. This has covered all my needs and seems incredibly sturdy and durable overall. I need more to evaluate this part properly, but with 3 years warranty, I think this can be a racquet bag “for life”.

I cannot really fault it anywhere, as it is just extremely practical. It is nice not to have things moving around inside large compartments, but that you have some kind of structure, which gives you some kind of feeling of tranquility on the tennis court.

It is expensive compared to a cheap branded bag, but it is also more practical and seemingly more durable and cleaner-looking. If you prioritize these things and can afford it, I think the Rocket bag is a great option.
