The final piece fell into place on Friday in Paris, and the 2026 Nitto ATP Finals field is now official. Rafael Jodar claimed the eighth and last spot when Carlos Alcaraz edged Taylor Fritz in a dramatic Paris Masters quarter-final, a match in which Fritz held two match points before the Spaniard roared back in his classic style with some remarkable shots.
Jodar joins Alexander Zverev, Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli, Arthur Fils and Frances Tiafoe in Turin.
Zverev leads a field of four debutants
Zverev arrives as the new World No. 1 and makes his ninth appearance at the season finale, having won the title in 2018 and 2021. Medvedev, the 2020 champion, is the only other former winner in the draw.
The other half of the story is the new blood. Cobolli, Fils, Tiafoe and Jodar are all first-time qualifiers – four debutants in a single edition is a sign of how the tour’s hierarchy is shifting.
Jodar’s rise is the headline act surely. Twelve months ago he was a college student-athlete at the University of Virginia ranked No. 166; now he’s in the field at Inalpi Arena, becoming the first player since Alcaraz (2021–22) to qualify for the Finals the year after competing at the Next Gen ATP Finals.
The storylines to watch
- Home hope: Cobolli is the fourth active Italian to play the Finals on home soil, and Italy has now had a qualifier in Turin four years running.
- French revival: Fils is the first Frenchman in the field since Gaël Monfils in 2016.
- Spanish double: Alcaraz and Jodar give Spain two direct qualifiers for the first time since Nadal and Ferrer in 2015.
- College route: Shelton (Florida) and Jodar (Virginia) make this the first edition since 2018 with two former college players in the draw.
- American drought: Shelton and Tiafoe are chasing a first US champion since Pete Sampras in 1999.
Alex de Minaur and Fritz are the reserves.
