When Prince relaunched its Tour line for 2026, the focus was on its new four-racquet lineup and ISO Fiber construction. But one version of the Tour 98 has attracted particular attention: a limited-edition collaboration with Toroline finished in a nice purple cosmetic.
A Tour 98 With a Toroline Twist
The Prince x Toroline Tour 98 is the same 2026 Tour 98 frame as the standard model (check out our review of the Prince Tour 2026), with the same specifications and intended on-court performance. The difference is the purple cosmetic, a dedicated Toroline sleeve, and a set of Toroline’s A5 Tour 1.20 string included with the racquet.
The companies spent a long time testing different strings specifically with the Tour 98 before settling on A5 as the pairing.
The result is a frame-and-string combination designed around complementary characteristics: the Tour 98 provides the control and feel, while A5 is intended to add spin, launch and pop.
Why the Tour 98?
The Tour 98 is the most control-oriented frame in Prince’s new Tour lineup, built around a 98-square-inch head, 16×19 pattern, 305-gram weight and 27-inch length.
It’s a demanding but rewarding racquet, with a solid, connected feel and a more responsive character than the previous ATS generation. It offers plenty of control without feeling overly low-powered, making it an interesting platform for a modern polyester setup.
We tested the full 2026 Tour range earlier this year (also, don’t miss our podcast with Prince R&D director Tim Puttock) and we found the Tour 98 quite impressive for its combination of feel, control and faster response. It also produced slightly more power and a quicker response than a comparable Wilson Blade 98 in testing.
A5 Tour 1.20, developed for the Tour 98
We love the new glossy cosmetics, however, the interesting part of the collaboration is of course the string choice.
A5 Tour 1.20 was developed specifically for the Tour 98 in a custom color-shifting purple-to-blue colour. Rather than simply adding another control poly, Toroline designed it to complement the frame with more spin potential, a slightly higher launch angle and additional pop.
That’s also why this collaboration is quite interesting. The frame doesn’t always need to be changed; the string can be used to tune its response while maintaining the Tour 98’s underlying character.
When we tested it with different tensions, we found the racquet particularly effective around 51–54 lbs (23–24 kg).
This collab has gotten great response from players and you’ll get the same control-focused Prince frame, a great cosmetic, and a chance to experience the string setup Toroline developed specifically around it.
