RS Sports continues to build out its footwear lineup with the new RS Legacy V2 – an updated version of their first performance tennis shoe. The focus is clearly on comfort, mobility and durability, targeting players who want a soft, responsive ride without giving up stability.

The development of the Legacy series is rooted in research into movement patterns in tennis and padel, with the goal of creating a shoe that works for both competitive players and dedicated recreational players. RS Sports says themselves that the shoe was developed alongside some of the world’s most experienced footwear designers and tested by both professionals and several ambitious club players.

What’s New in the V2

The main update is a completely new rubber compound in the outsole. RS Sports claims this delivers much better durability and longevity compared to the original Legacy. I think this is something plenty of players will appreciate given how hard outsoles take a beating during long practices and matches. Importantly, the grip and stability that defined the first generation are said to be retained.

The upper is built from a durable nylon mesh that balances ventilation with foot support. It’s reinforced with a KPU-injected structure that wraps the foot and helps with stability and flexibility, the shoe can then move naturally with the foot while still offering good lateral support needed for quick direction changes.

Comfort and Fit

Comfort has always been an important part of the the Legacy and RS Sports hasn’t changed course this time. The midsole uses a soft EVA-based foam for cushioning and a pleasant underfoot feel from the first step. An OrthoLite foam insole adds another layer of comfort and helps manage moisture during long sessions.

For stability, RS has integrated a central nylon shank in the midsole. This counters unwanted torsion and improves support during explosive, lateral movements. The result is a shoe that feels smooth and light on the foot while still being fairly robust at more intense play.

The fit is described as medium-width, making this a model that should suit a wide range of players. Unlike some competition-focused shoes, the Legacy V2 isn’t built to be stiff. The emphasis is on flexibility, freedom of movement and comfort.

Looks

Aesthetically, the Legacy V2 comes in a clean navy colorway with white accents, a classic, sporty look looks really nice in our opinion.

On Court – Our play test

On foot, the RS Legacy V2 is a genuinely comfortable shoe. The clay outsole has a relatively shallow tread pattern, which means you don’t dig hard into the surface – instead the shoe lets you slide freely and smoothly, which many clay court players will appreciate. The heel cushioning is well done and absorbs impact effectively. That said, the forefoot cushioning feels a little lacking, particularly for heavier players who put more load through the front of the foot. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s worth keeping in mind if forefoot comfort is a priority for you.

For players who prioritize comfort, agility and a natural feel on court, the RS Legacy V2 is a genuinely interesting option in the space between pure performance shoes and more comfort-oriented models. The clay outsole works well for sliding, the heel is well cushioned, and the overall ride is smooth.
