British No. 1 Jack Draper is shaking up his coaching structure ahead of the 2026 season, announcing the hiring of former Andy Murray coach Jamie Delgado as his new lead coach. The move sees Delgado take on the primary travelling role, while Draper’s long-time coach, James Trotman, will take a step back from full-time touring but remain involved with the team for now.
The 23-year-old Draper, currently recovering from a left arm injury that forced him to end his 2025 season early, has secured a coach with a proven track record at the highest level. Delgado famously worked with Andy Murray from 2016 to 2021, a period that included Murray’s run to the World No. 1 ranking and his 2016 Wimbledon title. Delgado also recently coached Grigor Dimitrov for three years before their split last month.

A Shift in Coaching Roles
Jamie Delgado, 48, will step in as the lead coach for Draper, traveling with the world No. 8 to the majority of tournaments as they prepare for the 2026 ATP season.
James Trotman, who has been instrumental in guiding Draper’s rise through the rankings since 2021 will remain a vital part of the team. However, Trotman will reduce his time on the road, having reportedly expressed a desire to spend more time at home.
The addition of Delgado further strengthens the “Murray alumni” presence in Draper’s camp, which already includes former Murray physio Shane Annun and fitness trainer Matt Little.
Building Momentum for 2026
Draper is scheduled to make his eagerly anticipated return at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) Grand Final in London this December, with a full return to the ATP Tour expected at the Australian Open in January.
The new coaching arrangement will officially begin during the pre-season training block as Draper sets his sights on a strong comeback in the new year.
