We recently wrote about the game of TYPTI, now it seems they are pushing the sport even further. TYPTI CEO and Chairman Steve Bellamy has officially pulled back the curtain on the inaugural US Open TYPTI Championships.

Mark your calendars for May 20–24, when the Calabasas Pickleball Club will transform into the epicenter of this fast-rising sport. With $100,000 in total prize money across five professional divisions, the stakes are high, but the invitation is wide open. From elite pros to juniors and seniors, players of all levels will be joining.

While TYPTI only hit the scene a few months ago, the “overwhelming” adoption of its gear (strung carbon-fiber racquets and channeled foam balls) has prompted a fast-track to the big leagues. According to Bellamy, every player who enters the US Open, regardless of their final score, will be officially cemented in the brand-new TYPTI World Rankings.

Expansion to San Diego

Bellamy also announced a partnership with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and Barnes Tennis Center for a $25,000 event in San Diego from July 10–13.

This “event within an event” allows collegiate athletes to compete for professional prize money while simultaneously playing in the ITA Collegiate Summer Series.

A “Four-Sport” Future

Ryan Redondo, CEO of Barnes Tennis Center, explains that the venue is now officially a “four-sport” facility (Tennis, Pickleball, Padel, and now TYPTI).

What makes TYPTI different? It’s played on a standard pickleball court but ditches the “kitchen” rule, allowing players to volley from anywhere. It also introduces “Stakes Scoring,” a high-pressure system where winning three points in a row takes the game – but losing a point can swing the entire advantage back to your opponent.

  1. How can we get Typti introduced to Espire multi-sport indoor/outdoor club in Prescott, Arizona? I have my racquet

  2. Is it a tailored racquet (separate from tennis, different strings/tension? Plus where can you get the balls? Figure that is the start. Will ask for rules later. Asking from Fairfield County, CT.
