Cincinnati, Doha, and Bastad named 2025 ATP Tournaments of the Year

The ATP Tour has announced the winners of the 2025 Tournament of the Year Awards, with the Cincinnati Open, the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha, and the Nordea Open in Bastad being recognised in their respective categories.

ATP Masters 1000: Cincinnati Open

The Cincinnati Open was named the ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year for the first time in its history. This recognition follows a huge $260 million transformation of the Lindner Family Tennis Center, which doubled the grounds to over 40 acres.

  • Key Highlights: The event expanded to 12 days, featured a larger draw (96 singles, 32 doubles), and was praised for creating an environment that blends elite tennis with a fan-friendly “amusement park” atmosphere.
  • Tournament Director Bob Moran stated the award reflects the vision of the owners to create a “best-in-class experience” for both fans and players.
  • 2025 Champions: Carlos Alcaraz (singles) and Rajeev Ram & Nikola Mektic (doubles).

ATP 500: Qatar ExxonMobil Open (Doha)

The Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha secured the ATP 500 Tournament of the Year award in its first season at the elevated level. The event, a six-time winner in the ATP 250 category, impressed players with its high standards of organization, hospitality and player services.

  • Key Highlights: The upgrade to an ATP 500 event attracted a great field including players like Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.
  • Tournament Director Karim Alami highlighted that the award reflects the “passion, dedication and teamwork” that defines the event.
  • 2025 Champions: Andrey Rublev (singles), who took home the coveted “Golden Falcon” trophy and Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool (doubles).

ATP 250: Nordea Open (Bastad, Sweden)

The Nordea Open in Bastad (image on top) was voted the ATP 250 Tournament of the Year, marking its 13th overall win in the category. The popular Swedish seaside event has now claimed the honor in two of the last three seasons, having also won in 2023.

  • Key Highlights: Known as one of the most scenic stops on the ATP Tour, the tournament continues to prioritise outstanding services and hospitality for players, partners and spectators.
  • CEO & Managing Director Christer Hult credited the team’s efforts, stating the award “inspires us to continue developing the tournament even more.”
  • 2025 Champion: Luciano Darderi (singles).

Standards of Excellence Honorees

In addition to the top three winners, the ATP recognized seven other tournaments with Standards of Excellence awards for their strong performance in player surveys:

  • ATP Masters 1000: Shanghai
  • ATP 500: Dubai, Barcelona
  • ATP 250: Kitzbuhel, Almaty, Stockholm
