Arthur Rinderknech vs Carlos Alcaraz
World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz has had a nearly flawless season and has been in dominant form at the US Open as well, winning his first three matches in straight sets, dropping only 23 games. Arthur Rinderknech, has had a more challenging year on the main tour but got some impressive results so far in New York and now get a shot at taking on Alcaraz.
While Rinderknech has shown his fighting spirit by winning three matches to reach the Round of 16, he has played 13 total sets, which may have taken a slight toll on him. Alcaraz has a perfect 3-0 head-to-head record against Rinderknech even though some sets have been tricky, the Spaniards superior all-around game should be too much for the Frenchman to handle.
Prediction: Alcaraz in 3 sets.
Novak Djokovic vs Jan-Lennard Struff
Djokovic has a perfect 7-0 head-to-head record against Jan-Lennard Struff and it’s looking likely we’ll see an eight. The German has been one of the big upsets of the tournament so far, taking out big names such as Holger Rune and Frances Tiafoe. The flat backhand and his powerful serve has been working great, but now he faces maybe the best returner of all time, and Novak usually knows how to deal with this style of players.
While it’s hard to know which version of Djokovic that will show up on court nowadays, he’s been solid at the US Open and won his first three matches with relative ease. It won’t be easy today but Djokovic should see it out and continue his attack for the 25th Slam.
Prediction: Djokovic in 4 sets.
Tomas Machac vs Taylor Fritz
A match that features two players in great form. Tomas Machac is coming off his first ATP Tour title in Acapulco. He has been fantastic at the US Open, winning all nine sets he has played and looks ready to face anyone at the moment.
Today he faces a significant challenge in world no 4 Taylor Fritz, who also holds a 2-0 head-to-head record against Machac, including a victory earlier this year at the United Cup where Machac retired with an injury.
While Machac’s recent form is impressive, his record against top 10 players on hard-courts is not great and in for our tennis betting today we’ll go with a hard-fought victory for Fritz in front of the home crowd.
Prediction: Fritz in five sets.
