The first round of Wimbledon does feature some great matchups and on Monday, June 30th, we see the American number one Taylor Fritz take on big-serving Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard on the grass courts. Let’s look closer at their form, head-to-head and our predictions with the best odds.

Fritz vs Mpetshi Perricard

Taylor Fritz (World No. 5) is in top form on grass. He won the Stuttgart title in June, beating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(0) in the final, and claimed his fourth Eastbourne crown, defeating Jenson Brooksby 7-5, 6-1. Despite a shock first-round loss at Queenโ€™s to Corentin Moutet, Fritzโ€™s 7-1 grass record this year makes him a serious contender. His serve and flat groundstrokes are perfect for Wimbledon.

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (World No. 36) has struggled on grass this season and his form has been really up and down. The 21-year-old reached the second round in Stuttgart, losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime, and fell in the first round at Queenโ€™s to Brandon Nakashima. Last year, he made a surprise run to Wimbledonโ€™s fourth round as a lucky loser, showing his massive serve can trouble anyone. Still, his 2025 form has been shaky, with only one grass win.

Head-to-Head

Fritz and Perricard have never played each other, making this a fresh matchup.

Prediction and Best Bets

Fritzโ€™s recent grass-court form and experience make him the clear favorite, but Perricardโ€™s will try to push sets to tiebreaks mainly via his massive serve. The Americanโ€™s ability to stay steady in big moments and ability to control rallies from the baseline are tailor-made for grass. We believe Fritz will see this through and advance to the next round.

Prediction: Fritz wins in four sets.

Best Bet: Fritz (-3.5) hcp at 1.91 or -110
