Roger Federer to play until 2019

It has just been announced that Roger Federer is going to play one of his favorite tournaments, Swiss Indoors in Basel, for at least three more years. This means that you will see Federer on a tennis court also in 2019, at the “ripe” age of 38.

This is obviously great news for all Federer fans and for tennis in general. Considering that Federer won Australian Open a few weeks ago, it’s hard to see him not being able to stay competitive for a few more years as long as his body holds up and he maintains a sensible playing schedule.

Tournament Director Roger Brennwald said about the announcement: “We are in the privileged position to bind Federer to our tournament for three more years.”

Federer said that he can’t wait to go home in the fall. “Playing Basel is always a highlight of the year.”

Great news for Basel, great news for Swiss Indoors, great news for tennis.
